Question ID: 237616
I will try to explane everything here and if there is any questions i
will answer them ASAP:

I am in a hotle room and my friends is next door (5 rooms away to be
exact), we are both PC gamers and we are playing 2 games, Warcraft 3:
The Frozen Throne and Age Of Mythology. Both games have online
matchmaking systems both are run ingame, anyway we are both behind a
firewall and cant join to each other online. I can send emails to him
and files or msn messenger but we cant join a game and play together.

We went online and got a 3rd part person witch was another friends not
in the hotle or to host and we join fine but when the host left the
game got disconected.

I am looking for a program were i can download it witch will allow us
to play together, we cant open or close ports bec the hotle will not
allow us. You may ask and say how come you guys want to play when your
in a hotle. The reason is that bec we are staying here for a long
while (1 mounth). Its very importnat.

thanks

There is a good chance that the hotel is using some type of NAT proxy
to run the internet connections to the rooms. A good way to check
this is to see if your IP address fits into a certain class of
addresses that is only used for internal networks, for example
127.0.x.x or 192.168.x.x. Could you please let me know what your IP
address is?

(note: I mean what IP address does your computer report, not what an
external source such as www.whatismyip.com says. In this scenario,
they could easily be different.)

Thanks

One thing else i do not want to post my ip here so if you could give
me your email or some other to give it to you it would be great, i
just dont want to post it here were everyone can see it.

If you just post whe first two numbers (e.g. 192.168.x.x) of the IP
Windows XP shows, that should be sufficient for andrewxmp's purposes,
and will not compromise your privacy.

Also, am I correct in assuming that a solution that only allows you to
to play each other (i.e. only a 2-player game) will be acceptable, as
this is primarily what you want to do?

I have no idea how to get my ip so i need you to give me a step by
step on how to get it. I can play online vs everyone i have no
problems with that, the problem is when i want to play vs him. It does
not matter if i can play 1vs1 vs him or 2vs2/3vs3 with him against
people, i just want him in the game with me without getting a 3rd
party hosting the game.

Jashnimal,
Try accessing http://www.whatismyipaddress.com and see if you can get
your IP address from there.

techtor-ga - The first researcher said that i should not give my ip as
an external website bec it might be diffrent:

(note: I mean what IP address does your computer report, not what an
external source such as www.whatismyip.com says. In this scenario,
they could easily be different.)- andrewxmp-ga

I have the ip and its 199.106.90.199 i need your help guys, i got the

That address you gave is very likely NOT the one your computer is
using, but is the address of the hotel's internet gateway.

Check your IP following the directinos on here (there's good pictures
too)

Then get back to us. Also, as someone mentined, if you guys just want
to play between each other, and you don't need to play with everyone
on the internet, then there are probably easier ways to do this than
you think. Let me know if just 1v1 play is all you require. Thanks.

My ip addres is 10.64.14.215. Well there is 2 things i would like to
do, first i would like to play vs him online, this could be me and him
vs 2 other guys or me and someone else vs him and another friend.

Second i would i like to play him 1vs1 witch does not matter if it was
online or ofline but there are about 5 rooms betweens us and i dotn
think its a good idea to have a cable line betweens us :)

jashnimal,

Fom what you've given me and my experience gaming in this type of
situation, I can tell you that you will almost definitely NOT be able
to play online together with other people, due to the fact that you do
not have administrative access to the hotel's internet gateway. I
could provide you with an answer informing you the details of this, as
well as how to set up a game 1v1 between you and your friend (this
SHOULD be possible and should work just fine). Please let me know if
this would be acceptible. Thanks!

I can tell you that you will NOT be able to be in the same game with
your friend and other people online due to the limitations associated
with the networking scheme your hotel is using. I do understand what
the problem is, and, as you said, realize that you will probably be
able to play with other people online, as long as no one else from
your hotel is trying to play in the same game. If you would like
infomation regarding the other possibilities I mentioned, please let
me know.

Ok here is the problem.
When i host a game were people can join i have no problem getting
people and playing with them but my friend who is in the same hotle
cant join the game i am hosting but can play other games hosted by
other people. I cant explane it better then that. We need to play each
other i need to know how.

This is what I'm trying to say - you CANT play online with your friend
and other people online. It just won't work, I have experience with
gaming and this network setup. I can help you out with some of the
other things, but that's about it. Sorry. Let me know if I can be
of any further assistance.

Clarification of Question by jashnimal-ga on 01 Aug 2003 20:45 PDT
Well i am not sure what you mean by "you CANT play online with your
friend
and other people online" your right i cant play with someone from the
hotle but it works fine vs other from else were.

I would like a way to play with him and if i cant its ok.

Hi there!
I can offer a solution (software) that will allow you to play with
your friends, but not through a server such as Battle.net. I believe
playing on Battle.net and such is impossible unless you have access to
the main computer/router to open up the ports you need (which cannot
be done in a hotel). However, using this software you will be able to
play lan or tcp/ip games with whoever you want. Basically you can
play amongst your friends and with whomever you give your ip to.

If this solution is acceptable as an answer, please let me know.
Best regards,
Tox-ga

see if you can get his ip address and then just connect directly your
ip ( 10.64.14.215 ) to his ip ... it should allow you and him to play,
but i dont know if you will be able to connect thru him to play
online...
