From the State of New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs:
The DEP noted that in the future, the Department and the Commission
of Radiation protection will examine the issue of licensing MRI
technologists in a manner similar to diagnostic radiologic
technologists.
The Radiologic Society of New Jersey urged that, because no radiation
is involved, the level of training to perform MRI examinations is less
than that warranting the services of a licensed radiologic
technologist. The Society suggested that, if this rule requirement is
retained, those unlicensed persons currently performing these
procedures should be "grandfathered".
