The hubris and perversity of John Poindexter's plan to start a hedge fund to predict political assassinations and acts of terrorism seems to indicate some sort of depravity that people who are mentally ill would think of. To me he seems like a sociopath with little regard for "normal" human decency. Has he ever seen a psychiatrist? Have people in the mental health field ever analyzed him? His sense of propriety is so way out of the bell curve that I'd like to know if any psychiatric study has ever been done on him? (Just asking this question would place me on his infamous "T.I.A" hit list!) Thanks, Yesmam |

On the contrary, I think it would be negligent for such a scheme NOT to have been considered. I agree that it was in poor taste to let it out of the drawing room, but there is documented evidence of this kind of pseudo-market working, and I applaud any effort to try and gain information about terrorist threats without invading the privacy of ordinary citizens. When you consider this, it's not a very far jump to realize that when you spend all your time thinking of these kinds of approaches, to have a distasteful one slip out is not all that surprising. |
