I have seen something on the TV used for showing teens how hard it is
to look after a baby. It is like a doll that cries at random
intervals, needs feeding, cuddling, etc and cannot be turned off. You
look after the doll for a week or so, and at the end data is
downloaded from the doll to say whether it has been well looked
after/neglected/dropped etc.

What I am wondering is where can I find out more about these dolls?
Just a link to a relevant site would be perfect :)

HOW IT WORKS

“An ID is attached to the teen’s wrist with a tamperproof wristband to
ensure that only the assigned teen can care for Baby. Baby cries for
care according to schedules selected by the instructor. When Baby
cries, it is the teen’s responsibility to determine and provide the
type of care Baby needs: feeding, rocking, burping, or diapering.
Sometimes Baby is just fussy and cannot be quieted by the teen.

The electronics in Baby’s back monitor the quality of care Baby
receives. Baby reports the number of times each type of care was
provided, as well as wrong positioning, rough handling, Shaken Baby
Syndrome, and more.”

From Education World: Baby" Helps Teens Think It Over!

“A computerized doll, programmed to mirror the needs of a real baby,
shows teens what parenting is really like.
Baby weighs about 6-1/2 pounds and is 21 inches long. Wearing a diaper
and an adorable T-shirt, she cries at random intervals, just like an
infant.”

Baby Think it Over Dolls

“The Baby Think it Over program offers teenagers a hands-on, more
realistic understanding of the 24-hour commitment, challenges and
obligations of parenting. Dolls are available for a weekend loan to
any teen (male or female) with a parent or guardian's permission. The
dolls are life-sized infants weighing approximately 6.5 pounds. A
computer in each doll simulates a realistic infant cry every 2 to 4
1/2 hours to signal it's time for "feeding." As the doll's "parent,"
teens must carry a special probe key at all times during the
experience. For proper feeding, the key must inserted into the doll
for up to 35 minutes at a time. Only the assigned parent can quiet the
infant's cry.”

Kids Think Twice about Parenthood

"Baby Think It Over," a program developed by a former rocket scientist
to combat teen pregnancy, utilizes life-sized, 6 1/2 pound,
computerized baby dolls that are programmed to cry like real babies
for periods of 5 to 35 minutes. To stop the crying, a special key must
be inserted into the baby and held in place. If you take the key out
too soon, the crying starts up again. The computer in the doll records
how long it is left crying, and also indicates if the doll has been
shaken, dropped, or otherwise mistreated.”
