Hi,
I added a new Maxtor Hard Drive on my computer yestertday. As
suggested by Maxtor instructions book, I put the new hard drive in the
slave configuration and then booted the system. Once the system was
up, I used MaxBlast (comes with Maxtor) drive to drive utility to copy
files from my current hard drive (c:\) to the new one (F:\ - BTW the
new one has three partition and they are named as f, g h). And then as
suggested by Maxtor, I swapped the hard drives so that the new one
became master and the old one became slave. Now everything works fine.
The system is booting up from the new drive (f:) as I wanted, but also
expected that since I have configured the new one as master, it should
be assigned a c:\ but that did not happen.

Do you know of any way where I can switch the F:\ to C:\ and my
current C:\ to so some other drive name.

Thanks
Sushil

Which version of Windows are you using? (XP, 98, etc)

Sorry I should have mentioned that before Windows 2000 Professoinal
SP4

Also I just tried to disconnect the old drive and boot up but it puts
me to the login page and when I enter my login info, it says pagefile
is not there... and then back again on to the login screen
Thanks

Hello SS1111 ~

This often happens with Win2000's logical drive naming schema when
another drive is added. Apparently this is "logical" only to Microsoft
and to no one else.

To change the drive letter names (and assign a name to the drive as
well, if you choose), just do the following:

On your desktop, right-click on My Computer
Click on Manage
Click on Disk Management

In the lower right pane you will get, right click on the drive and
then do what you want, including renaming the drive letters.

There's a Discussion on this on the Windows Annoyances site under the
thread "Adding hard drive and changing drive letters", which can be
found here:
