I need an answer to people who ask how many bombs were dropped? How
much explosive power used in attacks from missiles and bombs including
jet missile systems...Expressed in relateable terms...such as tons of
T.N.T...Destructive power...In attack on Iraq by U.S..2003

Trying to figure "explosive power" of the ordnance dropped would be an
impossible task since the ordnance spanned the entire US inventory
(with the exception of weapons of mass destruction of course). I can
tell you "exactly" what the official tallies are however, if you are
interested in shear numbers? My data comes from the most credible
source available.

Yes I want the Official Tally.I paid for that in another Question so
if you can give me the official tally you desearve credit for ans that
question.I 'm not sure the Iraqis used weapons of mass destruction on
themselves but my concern is
pounds of T.N.T.This is how they express how much explosives used on
people in bombings or attacks. But Don't bother ..Give me official
Tally you mentioned...Please and take the 10.00 for both
questions...??

Dear letgo21-ga;

Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to answer your interesting
question. I believe this recently released unclassified document will
answer many of your questions both here and in Question #238562. It
most certainly addresses in great detail the issue of how much
ordnance was expended (among other things).

This official report, entitled “OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM – BY THE
NUMBERS”, submitted by Lt. General T. Michael Moseley, (USAF) was
recently hailed as “a statistician’s dream” by THE HOUSTON CHRONICLE
because it so thoroughly accounts for each and every action,
consumption and cost of the war in Iraq.

OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM – BY THE NUMBERS

In it you will find in great detail lists of various expenditures in
terms of money and goods from Meals Ready To Eat (MRE’s) to munitions
and ordnance.

I will summarize an example of some of the facts and statistics that
relate to this question and question #238562:

MUNITIONS EXPENDED (Page 11)
Guided munitions – 19,948
Unguided munitions – 9,251
20 MM Rounds – 16,901
30 MM Rounds – 311,597

I’m certain this document provides the full tally as requested in this
question, but please examine the document in its entirety so you can
determine how much of it pertains to question #238562.

Below you will find that I have carefully defined my search strategy
for you in the event that you need to search for more information. By
following the same type of searches that I did you may be able to
enhance the research I have provided even further. I hope you find
that that my research exceeds your expectations. If you have any
questions about my research please post a clarification request prior
to rating the answer. Otherwise, I welcome your rating and your final
comments and I look forward to working with you again in the near
future. Thank you for bringing your question to us.

Best regards;

Here is a relatively current running tally of both civilian and
military casualties on both sides (updated as needed).
