I have an IBM 4019 B/W printer which was working great. However, since I've upgraded to Windows XP I cannot find an acceptable driver. I no longer have the printers orginal discs or manuals. Lexmark tells me they do not make drivers for printers this old. The best thing I found so far, was a downloaded IBM 4226 Model 302 driver, but the page breaks are screwed up. If this problem is just a printer setting issue, can someone supply me with instructions. If there's a better driver available to download, that will also work. |

Windows XP supports this printer natively. Go to: Control Panel -> Printers -> Add New Printer -> Local Printer The printer is not plug-and-play, so leave this box unchecked. This, by the way, is why XP is not detecting the printer automatically. Select the appropriate port (most likely LPT1). Select IBM from the Manufacturers list on the left, and then select IBM 4019 Laserprinter from the list displayed in the right hand pane. Good luck, Scott |

I tried adding my good old 4019 as a "not plug and play." It seemed to work, but all I can print are pages of 'at' signs @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ Like that. I'd love to get this old workhorse playing with XP! |

I was able to get my 4019E to work with my new machine, using the driver that comes with XP. Only problem is that when I try to print multiples of any document, it spools up for each copy (takes 45 sec). Takes forever to print 100 copies! Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks, Richard |
