I want to know how long a potted ivy plant can live, both typically as
well as theoretically (how many years it could live if cared for
properly). Details such as examples of plants that have survived for
decades or more would be helpful but are not required. I am aware that
ivy plants may be cut and the cutting may be used to grow an entirely
new plant, but that isnt what I am looking for. I want to know how
this one specific plant I have in a pot may live if I care for it the
right way. Could it outlive me (I am young)? Thanks in advance!

Hello there

Depending on the variety of ivy and the type and size of container,
your ivy can live hundreds of years.

The oldest known specimens date from the 1550s, more than 450 years
old.
