I need to know where to find or who to talk to about the latest technology to accurately and quickly determine genotypes in a cost-effective manner, starting from tissue sample prep and ending with an accurate assessment of genotype, using SNPs or AFLP methods. |

The main equipment & reagent makers are Applied Biosystems (see http://www.appliedbiosystems.com/catalog/myab/StoreCatalog/products/ApplicationsHierarchy.jsp?hierarchyID=102&category1st=112370&category2nd=112375 for specifics), and Amersham (http://www4.amershambiosciences.com/aptrix/upp01077.nsf/Content/autodna_software_genotype). Good protocols can be found in Current Protocols in Human Genetics (http://www.wiley.com/WileyCDA/WileyTitle/productCd-0471034207.html). Many commercial services exist which can perform genotyping for you (a lot easier than getting set up from scratch!). Here's one: www.orchid.com, but there are many out there. In terms of who to talk to, I can probably help a great deal, having worked in the field, and can further put you in touch with some heavies out there (have a look at my site to get an idea of where I am coming from: http://users.rcn.com/ypouliot/Index.htm). Your call :-) GOod luck. |
