I have many songs in the MIDI format and have some of them stored on
CD's. My broblem is that I can play only one song at a time----is
there any way to cause the songs to continue playing one after another
such as they do on a regular CDs?

Hi, superroy!

I hope I have the right idea about what you're looking for. Here are
some jukebox-style MIDI players that you might want to download and
try:

MIDI Magician
http://www.night-owl.net/midimag/midimag.htm

MIDI JukeBox 2
http://www.personalmicrocosms.com/html/ss_mj32.html

MIDInight Express
http://www.polyhedric.com/software/mn/index.html

A jukebox enables you to set up a "playlist" of songs; you can then
play the songs in an endless loop, or in "shuffle play" fashion, or
one at a time.

If any of these programs meet your needs, let me know. If this isn't
the kind of thing you want, it would be very helpful if you could give
a few more details about your exact requirements.

Hello secret901---
Thanks for the information you provided. My problem is that I am not
very familiar with Windows Media Player. I have vrsion #9 and it is
way beyond my knowledge on how it works and I can't find any
instructions on how to use it. I do play music through it but how to
insert songs into a "playlist" is above my limited knowledge. And I
can't find "Queue-It-Up" at all. I have gotten some MIDI songs on
some playlist but cannot figure to add more songs to any certain
playlist. Using Help is futile. Is there any Manuals or books
available to lead me through the steps I need to accomplish my goal?

Hi secret901 again--
You will think I am stupid but I tried what you suggested but it does
not seem to work for me. I have searched the HELP option and in many
instances it says to click on MEDIA LIBRRARY but I cannot find the
Media Library tab. It was there several sessions ago--to the left
side with other tabs---but now that entire section is gone. I have
tried all sorts of things to make it appear again---almost like a tool
bar, or aomething, to no avail. I think I can move my music to the
MEDIA LIBRARY but that will not help if I can not "click on media
library". Any suggestions ??

Hello pinkfreud-

I have tried all the sites you have listed in your reply. At this
point they cannot help me---maybe later. I have download lots of
songs and now----- my problem is getting them into the Windows Media
Library so I can add them into a Playlist----doing just what this last
sentence says is where I am baffled. I have windows Media Player 9
and it is very complicsted. I have never worked with Media Player
before so I am having a tough time. Any suggestions you have will be
appreciated.

Hi superroy,
Here are step-by-step instructions to add your MIDI videos into the
playlist. I'm assuming that you're running Windows Media Player 9 on
Windows XP. If any of these instructions do not make sense to you,
please let me know so that I can change it.
1) Run Windows Media Player 9, make sure that you are in full and not
in skin mode. If the left side tabs are missing, look at a thin bar
at the left with an arrow looking to the left and click on it, this
should make the left tabs appear.
2) Go to the Now Playing tab.
3) Choose File->Open
4) If your files are in one folder, just select all of them at once.
Hold down the Shift or Control button while clicking to select
multiple files.
5) These files should now appear at the right of the Windows Media
player window. If you don't see a section listing the songs at the
right, click the button pointing to the left at the lower-right
corner. You can manipulate the order of the files by dragging and
dropping.
6) You now have a play list to play your files. To save the play
list, choose File->Save Playlist As...
7) You can add additional files into your play list by dragging each
file from Windows Explorer onto the play list section and saving your
play list as needed.

I hope this was helpful to you. If you don't understand anything,
please let me know before rating this answer so that I can clarify it.

Good luck,

Hi secret901

Well I have suceeded --somehow or other with much stumbling
around---to get some midi files into the Windows Media Player Library
and some into a playlist.
I don't know the exact steps but I guess working more with the
software will give me more experience and make it easier to do what I
really want to do. I find out now that my CD burner will not record
MIDI files only WAV and MP3 files so I am stuck trying to get the
music onto disks. Do you know of any software that converts MIDI to
Wav format?

Clarification of Answer by secret901-ga on 22 Aug 2003 14:24 PDT
Hi superroy,

I found some programs to convert MIDI to wav files. All of these
programs cost money, however (you can download evaluation versions of
the software).
1) MidiSyn: http://download.com.com/3000-2170-9642846.html?tag=lst-0-8
($29)
1) Midi2Wav: http://www.midi2wav.com/ ($24.95)
2) WavMaker: http://www.polyhedric.com/software/wavmaker/index.html
($49)

If you prefer not to pay money for software to do this for you, you
can record the files directly as they're played. This page
<<http://www.notationmachine.com/midi_to_wave.htm>> provides direction
on how to record the MIDI files into WAV files.

I hope that this answered your question. If you still need
clarification, please let me know before rating this answer and I'll
try to clarify.

Hi superroy,
If you use Windows Media Player, you can simply highlight the files
you wish to play and right click on them, then choose Queue-It-Up.
This should allow a play list just like regular MP3 files.

Hi superroy,
Use the normal Windows Explorer to highlight the files you wish to
play. Right-clicking on them should make the "Queue-It-Up" option to
appear.
