I am trying to locate a company called "Sigma Design". They
manufactured cases in the mid 1990's. I think they were located in
Nevada. If the company is no longer in business, I would like to
locate the former executives of the company. Thank you |

Hello njbikeman-ga,
I'd love to help on this one, but the truth is, there are about a
zillion companies named Sigma Design. We'll need a bit more
information to be able to track down the one that is of interest to
you. Please provide whatever additional information you can:
--what kind of cases are you talking about? Suit cases? Whatever
description, brand names, etc you can provide would help.
--Are you sure of the name? Is it Sigma Design or Sigma Designs? Do
you remember if it was Inc, Ltd, LLC, Co, etc?
--Do you know if it traded on the stock market?
--How sure are you about Nevada?
--any other tidbits of information, no matter how insignificant they
may seem, will be a help, here.
Soon as you can get back to me with a bit more info, I'll do my best
to try and track 'em down for you.

One of the products this company made was a metal enclosure for Raid
Arrays.(Mass storage for computers) The enclosure was pre-wired and
cost (wholesale) about $2,000.00 in the time frame of 1994 to 1995 .
My company,Raid Power, Inc., bought these enclosures, we then added a
controller and the hard drives.
The only name I recall is Sigma Design. But it might have been Sigma
Designs or perhaps Sigma Computer or Sigma Case. However Sigma Design
seems the most probable. I do not remember if they were Co., LLC,
Ltd., etc.
I do not believe that they were a public company.
The reason I recall Nevada, is that my partner went to Las Vegas to
visit with them on several occasions.

Hmmmm. Thanks for the update. I may a bit closer, but I'm definitely
still not there yet.
A company called Sigma Designs in Fremont, California sold video codec
cards back in the 1990's, and as far as I can tell, these were
sometimes used in conjunction with Raid Arrays for streaming videos at
maximum rates of transmission.
Did your business purchase codecs? Is it possible you sourced these
from Sigma Designs, and perhaps that's the connection, rather than the
cases?
I'm fishing here, because I'm really coming up blank otherwise,
especially if I try to factor in the Nevada connection. Was your
partner perhaps meeting with Sigma at Comdex, or some other technology
convention -- they love meeting in Las Vegas!
Anyway, let's keep the lines of communication open on this one. If
any other little bits and pieces of memory come floating back to the
surface, please post them here. Every little piece helps to put
together the puzzle.
Thanks.

Ziphius's comment below was helpful, and almost got me to an answer,
but not quite all the way there, unfortunately.
The company in question is (was):
Sigma Information Systems Inc in Las Vegas, which disappeared in 1995
when they were bought up by Trimm, and then in subsequent
transactions, Trimm became part of JMR Electronics.
The CEO of Sigma in 1995 was a fellow by the name of Paul Clarke. I
can not find out his current contact information, though. As far as I
can tell, he is not associated with JMR Electronics.
Wish I had more to offer, but I fear time is running out.
