Question ID: 241159
Is there any websites that can allow me to search what people are
searching for on the web and how many times people search for them?
(the more detailed the better.) In other words, I'd like to find a
place(website) that tells me the words "Barker Engineering library"
(for example) has been searched 100 times in the past 2 days etc.

I think you'll find just what you need on the SearchEngineWatch.com
site. Here are a multitude of links to different pages and tools
related to the popularity of search engine keywords:

SearchEngineWatch.com

These are among my favorite sites that keep tabs on search terms:

Google Zeitgeist
://www.google.com/press/zeitgeist.html

Yahoo! Buzz Index
http://buzz.yahoo.com/

Lycos 50
http://50.lycos.com/

HitBrain
http://www.hitbrain.com/

Keyword City
http://www.keywordcity.com/Enter.html

My search strategy in answering your question consisted of combing
through my own "Favorites" list for appropriate websites. If you'd
like to find more such sites, try this link to the Google Directory's
"keywords" category:

Google Directory

I hope this is helpful. If anything is unclear, or if a link does not
function, please request clarification; I'll be glad to offer further
assistance before you rate my answer.

Happy hunting!

Hi,
thanks for answering my question promptly. However, the website you
provided gives me a list of the most popular searches on their engine
only. What if I want to search how many times has a particular term
has been searched on that engine? If you refer to my original
question, I think it's a little clear. Maybe that's too much to ask
for the web?

thanks

The detailed data you're wanting would be considered proprietary
information, and is not provided to the public by most search engines.
Pay-per-click search engines such as Overture provide such statistics
to their clients, but otherwise, I don't know of a way for you to
obtain the information you seek.

I am sorry to have misunderstood what you were seeking. I hope the
material I offered was of some use to you.

Although there is no way to search for the frequency of specific
keywords and get a report that covers all search engines, you might be
interested in trying Overture's "Search Term Suggestion Tool."

Here, for instance, is Overture's report on the usage of the term
"engineering" on the Overture search engine during June 2003:

Wordtracker offers a free trial of its service. Wordtracker studies
searches made at MetaCrawler and Dogpile.
