Medicines react with different foods in different ways. For some, if
you take it with food, it will reduce effects like nausea and
light-headedness, or gastrointestinal irritation. Many drugs should
NOT be taken with alcohol, as there can be serious side effects.

Mixing other drugs (such as some major antidepressants) with foods
high in certain kinds of amino acids (e.g. aged cheese, soy sauce, and
red wines), can have immediate, serious, effects, like a rise in blood
pressure, headaches, and even death.

The short answer is, make sure you carefully read ALL of the
information that comes with the medicines, and don't ignore it! If
you have ANY questions, talk to a doctor, preferably the one who gave
you the prescription. They will be able to tell you specifically
what, if any, side effects may occur.
