The fact that all ships are ladies is one of the reasons fire trucks
are red.

Actually the main reason fire trucks are red is Queen Elizabeth.

Queen Elizabeth is also a ship. - Ships sail the seven seas. - Seas
have fish. - Fish have fins. - The Russians once fought the Fins. -
The Russians were Red. - Fire trucks are always rushin. - Therefor,
fire trucks are red.

I'm glad I could clear that up for you.

It's deductive reasoning with the fallacy of equivocation (ambiguity)
-- occurs when a word is used in a different sense in the minor
premise than in the major premise.

The college has a special scholarship designed for poor students.

My biology teacher told me that I was one of the poorest students he
had ever known.

I should receive a special scholarship from the college.

Great answer.

Many thanks.

But how much is Chocolate Raspberry Sortcake?

Clarification of Answer by digsalot-ga on 10 Aug 2003 10:34 PDT
In most establishments, twice as much as it should be. I'm not a big sortcake fan.

As for cheesecake, it is twice as much as half but never as much as I want.

Still searching for lucidity

WOW, Digs!

No wonder you are considered the Master of your Craft.

An adept, no less.

In earlier times, you would have been a Magician, for sure.

Have a very small piece of Chocolate Raspberry Thingy Cake on me.

Is this reminiscent of the Burns & Allen routine, where George could
never understand Gracie's peculiar logic?

It's an example of incorrect deductive logic. It could also be termed a fallacy.

Woody Allen, in Love and Death:

"All men are mortal. Socrates was mortal. Therefore, all men are
Socrates. Which means that all men are homosexuals."

Though it isn't true, it makes sense to me! ;-)

I wonder if Digs might share with us the source for his inspiration?

I'm afraid Digsie suffers from a chocolate raspberry cheesecake
deficiency. He gets a little loopy if he doesn't have any for a
while.
