Behold this incredibly compact airline power adapter for the Apple G4:

Where can I buy something this simple and small for a thinkpad x30?

I found this:
http://www-3.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-4R9RG3

but it weighs 300 g and does not appear to be simple and small. It
also costs $99 US.

Targus also manufactures universal power adapters, but they are
expensive, big, and complicated.

The two lightest units available for an x30 are the Targus Universal
70W Auto/Air Notebook Power Adapter (
http://www.targus.com/us/product_details.asp?sku=PA360U ), and the iGo
Xtend Universal PowerXtender (
http://igo.ententeweb.com/Product_Detail.asp?PageSource=&PageType=ProductDetail&CategoryID=829&ItemID=18654
).

Both manufacturers are going with a universal product to broaden their
market, so the trade-off is a slight increase in size and weight
versus the completely dedicated solution for the Apple G4 Powerbook.

If you have more than the X30 on your trip, though, consider the
brand-new iGo Juice 70: http://igo.ententeweb.com/mapfiles/juice.asp .
