Hello scoles -

I've done some significant research on this, and I'm not really
finding any companies with a significant profile on the net that are
"bouillon cube specific." Would companies that specialize in making
"compression" and/or "granulizing" equipment suffice?

I have found a couple packaging equipment suppliers, but may be able
to find more if general "wrapping" or "overwrapping" equipment for
candy/tablets would suffice.

Also, with regard to "exporting" bouillon cubes, could you be a little
more specific?

Thanks,

1) Forget about the questions on equipment to wrap or manufacture
bouillon cubes.
2) Can you instead find a source of engineers willing to come to haiti
under contract to work as Chief engineeer in charge of all the
equipment in a bouillon cube manufacturing facility for contract of 2
to 3 years? Nationality of engineer is irrelevant, qualifications are
key.

3) i am looking to import bouillon cubes from anywhere in the world to
Haiti.
I am therefore looking for companies that make bouillon cubes and are
willing to sell to me in Haiti.

Sincerely,

Stephan Coles

Since I don't have [paid] employer access, searching for potential
employees on various job-oriented sites is generally restricted.
Would some key recruiting/headhunting/job companies on the net suffice
as an answer?

Also, may I confirm, are you looking to sell an established brand name
-- such as "Wyler" cubes -- in Haiti, or are you instead looking for
them or another to sell you cubes which you can then label as your own
brand? If the latter, do you want them pre-wrapped?

Clarification of Question by scoles-ga on 12 Aug 2003 11:09 PDT
1) No I do not wish to receive list of headhunting companies on the
web. Drop this question as well.
2) Yes i would like to import bouillon cubes from a manufacturer who
can wrap them for me under my brand name. I am in fact looking for a
company that can subcontract the manufacturing of bouillon cubes for
me.

Thank you

Hello scoles,

I would like to work on your question, but I must confess to being a
bit confused after reading the foregoing exchange. Your question
seems to have changed rather significantly several times, and at this
point I'm not sure exactly what it is you are looking for. I'm
certainly willing to undertake to research information on your behalf,
but that's just not possible to do without a clear understanding of
what you're looking for. So please bear with me, if you will, as I
try to come to a better understanding of your needs.

As I read the information here, you originally wanted 1) contact
information for bouillon cube manufacturing machinery, 2)bouillon cube
packaging machinery and 3)exporters of bouillon cubes.

Then you canceled the first two questions and substituted a question
asking for information about 1)locating a source for hiring an
engineer(s) to run a bouillon factory, and 2)the original information
about exporters.

Finally the last question was modified to specify only those exporters
who were willing to package under your private label.

Now, if you could possibly restate your question in a clearer fashion,
it may be that I or another Researcher could be better able help you
locate whatever it is you need. Many thanks for clearing things up
for us.

Best wishes,
Byrd

I started to look for manufacturer of equipment for bouillon cubes and
technicians to work with these equipment. Your researchers were
unable to help me there.
I then asked for manufacturers of bouillon cubes so that i could
contact these manufacturers in order to purchase from them under
subcontract basis (they would make the cubes for me).

At this point this is what i am looking for. A manufacturer of
bouillon cubes who will make cubes for me to sell in Haiti.

Sincerely,

Stephan Coles

Hello Scoles,

I've been working on your question behind the scenes, as I have
located and emailed a number of bouillon cube manufacturers, inquiring
on your behalf if they do private label manufacturing, and would be
willing to work with a customer in Haiti. I've contacted eight
companies and to date have received three replies. Two are from
companies who express interest in working with you. One said no, and
I am still waiting to hear from the others.

Is this the type of information you're looking for? At this point I
can give you the names and contact information from the two companies
who have already said they're interested and would welcome contact
from you, as well as the names of those companies who are not
interested, and/or who have not yet responded to my inquiry. I would,
of course, post any replies as soon as received. Would this satisfy
you as answer to your question? If not, what would? More companies
expressing an interest (if so, how many?), or just the list of all
companies contacted, whether they have expressed an interest in
working with you or not? Many thanks for the clarification.

Byrd

Hi Scoles,

Since I posted the previous request for clarification, I have heard
from another company indicating willingness to work with you. That
brings the total number of companies interested in your needs to
three.

Thanks,
Byrd

Dear Scoles,

Thank you for clarifying that you are interested in receiving, as an
answer to your question, the information I’ve been able to obtain for
you regarding several companies who have expressed an interest in
working with you to manufacture bouillon cubes under your private
label, and shipping to you in Haiti for resale there.

As I said, I contacted eight companies on your behalf with this
request. To date, I have heard from three who have expressed an
interest in your needs. They are:

===============================================================================

STOCK-CUBES

This company is actually a consortium of several companies working
together to provide a complete solution to customers with needs such
as yours. It consists of

     --Pentaor (flavorings)
     --Bonals (mixing and pressing equipment)
     --Sig-Sapal (wrapping equipment)

The activities of this group appear to be coordinated by Pentaor, as
the answer to my inquiry came from their contact in Israel, Dr. Oren
Ben-Israel, who said, “We would be pleased to proceed further with the
contacts with your customer.”

He has instructed you to send email to info@stock-cubes.com for
further information. You might want to include some preliminary
information, such as an approximate quantity you had in mind for
annual production. In addition, Dr. Ben-Israel provided the following
contact information:

Pentaor - The Art of Food Technology
Dr. Oren Ben-Israel
P.O.Box 347
Kiryat Tivon 36012, Israel.
Tel. 972-4-9534499, Mobile: 972-52-481846
Fax. 972-4-9534949
E-mail: pentaor@pentaor.com

RAPUNZEL

This is a German company which manufactures bouillon (stock) cubes and
has a private label department. My inquiry was answered by a Suzanne
Veit, who said that their private label contracts depend on the annual
quantity ordered. She requested that you contact her further with an
idea of the approximate annual amount you will be needing, and she
will then get back to you with a non-binding offer. She also said
that they would be please to send you some samples of their product,
as they have several types.

Her contact information is:

Rapunzel Naturkost AG
Ms. Susanne Veit
Private Label Department

HEINZ FOODS (WYLER BRAND BOUILLON CUBES)

This is a large American company, which also does private label
manufacturing and has expressed an interest in working with you. They
have asked that you contact them in writing with your request, and
include an estimate of your annual ordering needs. They also asked
that you use the following reference number in your correspondence:
001969419A.

Here is their address:

  Heinz North America
  P.O. Box 57
  Pittsburgh., PA 15230-0057

Should you have any other questions, they said you can contact them
either by phone at 1-888-337-2420, or by email at the Heinz Consumer
Resource Center heinz@casupport.com .

===============================================================================

In addition to the above favorable replies, I received a response from
Dr. Oetker Food-Service in Germany, which supplies Oetker Canada and
some other companies. They stated that at this time their production
capacity does not allow them to start any new business activities.
However, here is their contact information for future reference:

Tel. 07243 709 655
Fax: 07243 709 666
e-mail: m.mueller@Oetker-FS.de

===============================================================================

The other four companies I contacted have not replied, but I’ll give
you here their websites and such contact information as I have just
for reference purposes:

MASSEL

Email: Mr. Harris info@massel.com

===============================================================================

NESTLE (Maggi brand bouillon cubes)
This is a huge company with worldwide branches and numerous brands.
However, it is difficult to find specific manufacturing information
about them and their operations.

Maggi bouillon cubes are featured on their Canadian site, here:
http://www.nestle.ca/en/Products/Browse_by_Category/Specialty_Imports/maggi_bouillon+_cubes.htm?view=BrandView

Nestle France appeared to have the best information about exporting on
their site vs. other Nestle sites:
 http://www.nestle.fr/export/indexgb.html

However, they provided no email address, but only correspondence and
telephone contact information, here:

Nestlé France
Export department
7 boulevard Pierre Carle
BP 900 Noisiel
77446 MARNE LA VALLEE Cedex 2
tél. : 01 60 53 21 00
Fax : 01 60 53 29 37

Therefore, I used an online contact form from their main site, here:
http://www.nestle.com/Data/ContactUs/index.asp and have as yet had no
reply.

In addition to the above, I contacted one other company, Sun Organic
Farm, which has their own brand of bouillon cubes. However, although
they did reply, they stated that their cubes are manufactured for them
by another company, and they could not divulge the identity of that
manufacturer.

I hope this information has provided you with sufficient leads to help
you locate a suitable company to manufacture bouillon cubes for you
under your private label for you to sell in Haiti.

Please do use the “Request Clarification” feature before rating and
closing your question if there is anything you don’t understand. And
again, I will be sure to post as a clarification any information I may
receive from those companies that have not as yet responded to
inquiry.

Thank you for the opportunity to assist you in your search. I wish
you a very successful outcome to your venture.

Best regards,
Byrd

Search strategy:

First I began searching using the terms: “bouillon cubes” OR “stock
cubes” I also used
“bouillon cube” manufacture OR manufacturer
“stock cube” manufacture OR manufacturer

I then looked through the search returns individually to identify
companies that manufactured bouillon cubes, and searched their sites
for company and contact information.

In addition, I used the above information as well as personal
knowledge of brand names to search for brands indiviually, such as
Wyler’s OR Knorrs OR Maggi, etc.

Then I sent emails to such contacts as I was able to find for those
companies I had determined did in fact produce bouillon cubes, asking
specifically if they would be willing to produce this product under a
private label for shipping to and resale in Haiti.
