I'm curious why you're limiting yourself to India.
Prefer someone local in bombay or bangalore
you can shake hands with?

If cost isn't a factor, there are
plenty of NRI's in the SEO business, too.

We do not have many good SEO companies in india. We tried many but no
use, now finaly we think we are able to find one...I have a successful
experience from a firm  called as Wildnet Technologies
(wildnettechnologies.com ) for my 2-3 tours related website. Try
catching them from their home page or try
sachin@wildnettechnologies.com . But small company , may be just 4-5
guys or some thng...good luck
