I need information on pageviews, users, and percentage increase in
traffic of to internet websites from 1998 to the present day. I need
reputable/credible sources and hopefully some graphic representation
of the growth. All of the information needs to be publicly accessible
so I can refer 3rd parties to it. I need the info ASAP ( By June 11)!

Hi.

As you may have noticed, the Web is overflowing with statistics about
its usage. Thus, the challenge is to isolate useful data and present
it in a meaningful way. Researcher Andrew Odlyzko, formerly of AT&T,
now of University of Minnesota, has written a number of papers
analyzing internet traffic growth. His papers are loaded with
statistics from reputable sources and generally cover internet growth
for the past six years or so.

For a list of Odlyzko's papers, visit:
http://www.dtc.umn.edu/~odlyzko/doc/networks.html

In particular, the following papers seem particularly relevant
(they're in PDF format, so you'll need the Adobe Acrobat reader):

"Growth of the Internet" (2002)
http://www.dtc.umn.edu/~odlyzko/doc/oft.internet.growth.pdf

"Internet growth: Is there a 'Moore's Law' for data traffic?" (2001)
http://www.dtc.umn.edu/~odlyzko/doc/internet.moore.pdf

"Internet growth: Myth and reality, use and abuse" (2000)
http://www.dtc.umn.edu/~odlyzko/doc/internet.growth.myth.pdf

Other good sources:

Cisco Systems has whole page of links devoted to web statistics of
every variety:
http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/779/govtaffs/factsNStats/internetusage.html

Cyber Atlas provides many useful web statistics:
http://cyberatlas.internet.com/big_picture/stats_toolbox/article

This article, "History of Internet and WWW: The Roads and Crossroads
of Internet History," by Gregory R. Gromov, includes many internet
traffic statistics:
http://www.netvalley.com/intvalstat.html

Although it only covers through 2000, the document, "Internet
Evolution," includes a number of statistics that may be useful to you.
It's also in PDF format, so, again, you'll need the Adobe Acrobat
reader:
http://www.onemerchant.com/marketing/evolution.pdf

This web page at Columbia University also has a few interesting
statistics:
http://www.cs.columbia.edu/~hgs/internet/traffic.html

Nielsen Net ratings also may be useful to you:

Search terms: web traffic statistics internet growth

I hope this helps. Good luck in your research.
