Hi,

I'd like to be able to monitor my stocks while I'm on the road with my
Blackberry through e-mail. The idea would be to send an e-mail with
stock symbols to a service that will reply with the current prices of
those stocks.

I'm not interested in scheduled stock alert services that will send
you an e-mail with your stock quotes at the same time every day. I
want to be able to do this on demand because sometimes I care and
sometimes I don't.

I've seen at least one website that claimed to offer this type of
service but I tried it and it wasn't functioning. I can't remember
what it was, unfortunately, but the site name was along the lines of
"pagefetch" or "getpage". If that would have worked then I'd be
happy. So please verify that the service actually works as it claims.

I'd prefer it to be free, but I'd like to know of any paid services
you find as well.

Please let me know if you need any clarification.

Thanks!

I have found two such paid services which offer products similar to
the one you are looking for:

http://www.softwinc.com/rimapp.htm
http://www.wolfetech.com/main/WolfeStock.html

Also, if you provide me with the name of the company you pay for
service on your Blackberry I will investigate if you can recieve such
a service through them. Otherwise, if the information provided above
suits your needs, let me know and I will post it as a formal answer
(along with search strategy and a more detailed description of each
service and it's pricing).

Hi,

I took some time to check out the links you provided.

The first one is StockBoss from Software Incubators. This looked
promising and I started to install it but I got an error saying my
Blackberry doesn't have enough space. I'm not sure why that would be
the case since I don't have anything extra installed on my Blackberry
that I know of. Plus, I'm pretty sure StockBoss requires the
Blackberry WebClient, which I don't have--that's why I needed an
e-mail solution, otherwise I could just browse for the stock prices.

The second one is WolfeStock from WolfeTech. This solution only works
for Cingular and Motient Network and I'm on AT&T Wireless. It also
looks like it's for Rim 850, 857, 950 and 957 models, and mine's a
5810. Plus, this isn't really what I was looking for--a simple e-mail
solution, not a full stock monitoring system.

So it looks like neither one of the solutions you found will work for
me, unfortunately.

Thanks for researching, though!

I think this is the service you're looking for:

Stock Quotes - To receive a stock quote, just send an e-mail to
quote@PageGetter.com and include in the subject one or more stock
symbols, separated by commas with no spaces (i.e. csco, msft,ge,orcl).
You will automatically receive an e-mail for each of your symbols
containing that companies stock quote. From the returned stock quote
e-mail you can easily request Charts and Company Data for that
company. Text-only devices can send a similar e-mail to
tquote@PageGetter.com to receive the information in text-format.

You can find it here: http://www.pagegetter.com/

Hope this helps!

Thanks, but their stock quote service isn't functioning right now.
I've contacted their support person and they say they are working on
it. If this works, it seems like it will be what I'm looking for.
