Question ID: 242595
I recently acquired a 99 VW Jetta and am trying to locate discount
parking in NYC or surrounding borroughs. The garage down the street
from me charges $300/month plus tax. I'd be ecstatic if someone could
point me to a place that charges $225 or less near in or near the
village. I'd be willing to sign
on for a year if it meant extra savings. Car does not need to be
garage kept although it's preferred. I'm open to any creative
solutions or private parties who may have space. I don't use the car
daily and only take it out on the weekends. I'd like to be as close to
the West village as possible, but like I said am open to any
alternatives.

I'm really interested in well-researched leads with price quotes and
not links for reference although I will consider all.

Thanks for the question td99-ga,

After consulting a number of sources, I think the best option for
month-to-month parking near the West Village is Pier 40.

Their website can be found at:
http://www.pier40.cc/index.html

They offer the following rates:

Roof Valet: $173.36
Roof Park & Lock: $181.82
Mezzanine Park & Lock: $194.50
Indoor Valet: $198.73
Indoor Park & Lock: $211.43

They are located 4 blocks west of the Houston St stop on the 1/9
subway. Additional details on their location can be found on their
website at:
http://www.pier40.cc/location.html

The next best deal I could find in the area is at 551 greenwich st.
but they're $253.70 a month and they are closed on Saturdays. If
you're interested, their website can be found at:
http://www.parking.com/nywww/233.html

Pier 40 claims to be the cheapest parking in lower manhattan and from
the research I've done, their claim appears to be well-founded. They
also have a large number of spots (3500) compared to other garages in
the city.

You can apply for a spot at Pier 40 at:
http://www.pier40.cc/application.html

Additional links:

Information on Pier 40 from the Hudson River Park Trust (along with a
helpful map) can be found at:
http://www.hudsonriverpark.org/parkmap/p40.html

If for some reason you wish to pursue additional parking options in
NYC a good place to look is:
Craig's List
http://newyork.craigslist.org/prk/
On this bulletin board, people post that they have or are seeking
parking spots in and around manhattan.

Search Terms:

"hudson river park trust" pier 40

Happy parking!
