What was the name of the German Army in WW2 (as opposed to SS and
other special units)

Hi dogsbollocks-ga,

During WWII, the German armed forces were called the Wehrmacht.  The
army itself was called the Heer, while the air force was the
Luftwaffe, and the navy was the Kriegsmarine.
