Hi, I would like to provide a service that requires weather information, the more data elements the better, meaning data that is of use to sailers, pilots and surfers... you get the picture. Please suggest sources, costs, applications and good ideas of how to package/optimize the information to suite these types of consumers. Thank you. /Lizardnation |

I have used this in the past (Free Version) : HamWeather http://www.hamweather.com/ If this is the type of service you are seeking I can go into details of how to deliver the information you are targeting. Thanks - SgtCory |

Lizardnation -- I'm very familiar with aviation applications. You'll find up-to-date information on WXData on Avweb (www.avweb.com). Almost all of the avionics vendors are working on delivery of information, the market leaders being Garmin, Collins Radio and King Radio. However, some hackers (including a friend of mine) have effectively been delivering wireless data to aircraft -- not through satellite delivery -- but through Palm.net's paging network, though it doesn't cover 100% of the U.S. It uses web-clipping to deliver critical information from FAA Flight Service and weather radar. It is low-cost and effective, except for the gap in coverage across the Rockies and northern Great Plains. Best regards, Omnivorous-GA |

Hello Omnivorous, That site looks extensive, I don't come from the industry and I have a lot of interests in the travel industry so this question and the comments which will progress here will cause more questions to be posted. Can you give me a URL where I can find the WXData, I guess I couldn't spot it on the site. /Lizardnation |

LN -- Here are two of the most-significant, though a search of the Avweb site for "weather" or "weather + avionics" would give more complete resources: WSI InFlight http://wws1.wsi.com/solutions/aviation/inflight/ Avweb http://www.avweb.com/newswire/9_33a/briefs/185487-1.html ADDS http://sentinel.aviationweather.gov/ That'll get you started.
