I would like three choices for a digital camera that saves video in a standard format: avi mov mpg . . . I would also like an audio in connection on the camera(so I can use an external mic). I want to record a video(up to 15 minutes at least 640X480) on the camera and transfer it to my computer without having to do the capture thing. I will then edit the video and export it to the desired format. Presently I have a fujifilm finepix f601 and the videos are not saved in standard format. I've tried a digital camcorder, but its a drag capturing. |

.avi and .mov are technically not "formats" - they are merely ways of presenting different forms of data. As an example, .mov files can be encoded with a Sorenson Media codec, or a Cinepak codec, even a DivX codec. A specific example: DivX files are most typically encoded as .avi, but sometimes as .mov. Therefore, these suffixes are ambiguous and tell nothing of the nature of the data. As for videos not being saved in "standard format" - what video player are you using? QuickTime usually can handle everything ( http://www.quicktime.com/ ). |
