First, a promise. I read a previous thread where a questioner asked for business names and then rejected the answers. That stinks. We are honourable people (though we do ask a lot!!). So what are we looking for .... a business name for a telephone company (reselling calls, not equipment), with a uniquely convenient payment plan (I could say painless, but payment is never painless, is it?). Great call quality, value, service etc of course. Principally aimed at domestic customers making international calls. The business name MUST be registerable in Australia, and the domain name (or some reasonable version of it) available, ideally in .com or .biz or at least in .com.au. STRONGLY PREFER something simple, easy to spell/pronounce, and carrying a mix of ideas from telephone call, convenience, value for money, and global reach. These are pretty much in order of importance as we see it. All this would be nice but our 2nd line of thinking was maybe a friendly name that led to an attractive logo. Maybe an Australian flavour? (eg We tried "Starfish" but many variations of this are already registered in Oz.) Customer image desired is approachable, good product, no hassles. Don't want much do we?!! Oh, and we need to avoid unwanted associations. Like "Worldcom" and "One.Tel". We already looked at names including "chat" (friendly, chat to your friends kind of idea) - and didn't understand why there were so many registered until we caught on they were sex chat lines. Duh. We are in the services business so we understand the use of time, and will help researchers and/or interact with you if that makes better use of your time. eg It might be a good idea if we cull an initial list of your ideas before digging into what variations are registerable ... but that's only a thought (and I don't even know if Google Answers makes that practical - our first go at this). If possible, a reply by Friday 15 August would be good. Thanks for your help. |

Greetings Drmike333: You are very kind to offer assurances to a Researcher! :) I have been working on your query since yesterday and I have some ideas for your consideration. As you know, Google Answers has the Clarification feature so that we may continue discussion indefinitely before you rate and close the question, so please feel free to request other directions for my ideas. To save you time (and being enamored with a name that can't be registered as a domain) I have checked already my name suggestions in the WhoIs database: CommuniTel.com.au CommuniTel.biz CommuniLink.com.au CommuniChat.com.au Communichat.biz IntelliLink.com.au IntelliGlobe.com.au InterGlobal.com.au InterLink.com.au TeleTelNetwork.com TeleGlobeNetwork.com TeleGlobeAustralia.com InterGlobeAustralia.com KangaTel.com KoalaTel.com QualiTelComm.com QualiTelNetwork.com QualiTelComlink.com QualiTelNetwork.com QualiTelSolutions.com I'm partial to KangaTel and KoalaTel because both have a solid Australian and telecommunications reference *and* they are dotcoms. I also believe that your logo design could really shine with the koala and kangaroo options. Please review my suggestions and let me know if you'd like me to take a different direction. Just a bit of whimsy... In the United States, we used to call our telephone service "Ma Bell." In honor of the wombats, koalas, kangaroos, and other pouched creatures, it might be fun to name an Australian telecom business "Ma Supial". ;-) |
