Hello,

I use 2 imacs as web servers and I want them to automatically restart
after a power failure. I know I could do it launching a macos X on the
machine and clicking the appropriate energy saver checkbox, but this
is not an option since the only OS I've installed on them is linux
(debian and yellowdog).

I tried the solution provided here:
<http://lists.linuxppc.org/linuxppc-user/200005/msg01454.html>
but without success (it didn't change anything). Although I'm not so
expert in these low-level configurations, I really want to get a
solution to do exactly this (and obtain all information about
manipulating CUDA, what is CUDA, etc.

The exact configuration is:

iMac DV (Slot Loading)
debian 3.0

and

iMac DV (Slot Loading)
YellowDog Champion Server release 1.2

Thanks,

-leo

Hello,

Ahh, a fellow Linux user. :-) I have been using Linux for several
years, however, I'm not familiar with the imacs, so please forgive
this possibly stupid question: what processors do your imacs have-G3,
G4, something else?

How did you create the binary file? I created the powerup-boot file
mentioned in the posting you provided and will upload it to an ftp
server if you think it might be the problem. Here is how I created
the file:

$ dd if=/dev/zero of=powerup-boot bs=1 count=3

Then run
$ hexedit powerup-boot

Type 011303 and then press CTRL-X to save and exit.

If you
$ cat powerup-boot

you should cat a three-char sequence and then your prompt *on the same
line*.

I would like to help you get this resolved, but I won't post an answer
until it is working since I can't be certain that we will get it
fixed. I trust that, if we resolve the problem, you'll let me post an
answer.

Thanks!
bikerman

Thanks to try to help me, but I'm on holiday right now, so I'll try
your solution when I'm back (i don't want to play with distant reboot
on my production servers!)

see you,

The toggle is configured by software under Mac OS 9 or Mac OS X. Leo
is not using either of those operating systems, unfortunately.

Yes supermac, you're right, but if anyone know exactly how this toggle
works under macos 9/X, I'm sure I could do it under linux...
