I need information for a business presentation on wireless (or
"over-the-air") content for mobile phones. I know there has been a
lot of publicity about this industry recently.
Key questions are:
1) What is the size of this business in the US, Europe, and
Asia/Pacific regions? I'm defining this as the total dollar amount
wireless carriers (such as AT&T, Cingular, and Sprint in the US or
Orange and Vodafone in Europe) make from selling games and other
content downloads in these regions. I'm most interested in the US
market. I'll give a tip for this same info broken down by application
format (e.g., Java, BREW, Symbian). What percentage do they generally
take of a mobile user's application purchase price?
2) Who are the major publishers/distributors in the wireless gaming
business (Jamdat and Digital Bridges are two notable companies like
this -- I'm looking for others that license content, work with
multiple outside developers, and have deals directly with carriers)?
How large are they (revenue, employees)? What percentage do they
generally take of application purchase price?
3) What companies/individuals are some of the prominent developers of
wireless games and wireless content? What percentage do they
generally take of application purchase price? |
