The first three months of the year saw subscriber losses at several
ISPs as cost cutting trimmed unnecessary operations and for other
reasons as well.

AOL April 2003
America Online subscriber rolls declined by 846,000 to a base of 25
million U.S. customers since the end of March, down from a high of
26.7 million last Sept. 30.

Still, AOL will not be an easy incumbent to unseat. With more than 35
million subscribers compared with MSN's 9 million, AOL has an enormous
presence on the Internet. Jupiter Research estimates that AOL accounts
for more than 25 percent of the time people spend on the Web compared
with about 9 percent for MSN.
