Market closing price of Westinghouse Electric Corp ... now defunct...
on July 3, 5, 8 of 1996. Wesinghouse was listed on the NYSE as WX and
the price at that time was somewhere around $17 to $18. July 4, 1996
was Thursday so it's possible the market long-weekended on Friday July
5. (July 6,7 was the weekend).
Anyone researching this probably knows that Westinghouse became CBS
and CBS was absorbed by Viacom.I tried the remnant of Westinghouse,
which is part of some British company and has a small operation in
Pittsburgh, PA, but they didn't have a clue. Likewise CBS and Viacom.I
suspect that there are newspaper archives somewhere of the NYSE
listings for that time period but all the archives I tried are either
too expensive to suscribe to or did not archive the finacial pages.
