I'm posting this question for a friend who doesn't believe in putting his credit card info online. What major musical events were staged in Northampton Massachusetts in the USA in the years 1700 through 1940? Info about any operas performed in Northampton would be a big help. |

Hello, The web site below contains information about the Academy of Music Opera House in Northampton. While most of the information relates to the building itself, there are also names of famous performers who have performed in this facility. <http://www.academyofmusictheatre.com/> The scrapbook listed below contains theatre programs, cast lists, theatre and music reviews, advertisements, pictures of actors (some signed), floor plans, tickets for productions in New York, Boston, Northampton, Mass Theatre programs and cast lists from,1909-1946. The item is located in an archival collection at The Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee Theatre Research Institute Ohio State Univ. Library. It does not circulate. However, it may be possible to a email staff there and request photcopies. I've included a link to the Institute below. Book Title: Theatre programs and cast lists scrapbook, 1909-1946 Available at: Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee Theatre Research Institute Ohio State Univ. Library <http://www.lib.ohio-state.edu/triweb/> Another book that should help you is entitled "Baroque opera at Smith College, 1926-1931." This item is located at 43 U.S. libraries and should be fairly easy to get through interlibrary loan. Contact your local public library to submit an interlibrary loan request. I'm sorry I am unable to provide a listing of every event for the dates you desire. Please feel free to ask for clarification. I will be happy to work more on this question.
