I have an Apple iPod mp3 player (15gb one, firewire doc, model
M8946LL/A, take a look at http://www.apple.com/ipod/specs.html)
I am buying a new 2004 Toyota Yaris car (Yaris T Spirit Hatchback 5
Door 1.3 VVT-i Petrol Automatic, take a look at www.toyota.co.uk for
specs)
I want to connect my iPod to the radio-disk (CD player) that comes
standard with the car.
I don't want to use an FM transmitter (such as Belkin TuneCast FM
Transmitter for iPod -
http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore?productLearnMore=T6283LL/A
) because of the quality loss.
I want to see if I can somehow take a normal AUX cable (like the
headphone cable) and connect it to the line-out (or even headphone)
connector of the iPod.
This would probably require a qualified Toyota electrician to connect
the cable to the interior of the stereo system.
I live in Haifa, Israel (if this helps).

Can you get a vehicle with a cassette player? There is a device that
can transmit the iPod's audio signal from the MP3 player to the car's
stereo system through a special cassette tape.

No. I cannot get a cassette player. The vehicle is available with the
standard CD (radiodisk) player alone (you can't even change the CD
player model). There is only one upgrade available and it's to add a 6
CD changer - and it's only for one Sony model that Toyota works with.
Check out http://www.add-a-cdchanger.co.uk/acatalog/SHOP_Home_Page_Toyota_MP3_Changer_74.html
I couldn't find any other 3rd party equipment that interfaces to the
radio.

Alright, I'm stumped for "easy" solutions ... you'll probably need to
do some hard-wiring.
