Hi! I hope that you can help me here in the UK. Having worked perfectly for 18 months my Power DVD player is now throwing the following message at me when I attempt to play a DVD. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ESDI driver or ASPI manager is not compatible. or operating the DVD-ROM, two system drivers will be used--the ESDI driver and ASPI manager. Older versions of the ESDI driver have compatibility problems with DVD-ROMs. ASPI manager might be replaced by an incompatible version if you have installed a SCSI device. Please refer to the "ASPI issue" and "ESDI issue" sections in the Readme file for the solutions to rectify these errors. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Of course there is no mention of these 'issues' in the read me notes. and precious little when I search for some info. I have just loaded Adobe Premier and several DVD decoding programmes (DVD Decrypter & DVDto AVI converter) also Uleads video Studio 5. I am sure that one of thses has changed my settings. Any information on how I can regain these settings would bew greatly appreciated. Regards Chris Richardson e-mail: chris@flashman.co.uk e-mail: f.1@btinternet.com thanks again!! CR |

I will answer this question with the assumption that your operating system is newer than Windows 98, in which case the ESDI driver issue should not be the cause of the problem since Windows ME, 2000, and XP support ESDI devices natively. The most common problem that appears when installing CD recording or DVD decoding programs is that the ASPI manager gets replaced with an older, incompatible version by the installation program. This problem is most prevalent when installing an older version of a CD recording or DVD decoding program, but it can also happen if the software developer chooses to use an older ASPI manager in their product. The easiest way to fix the problem is to install the latest versions of the leading ASPI managers. --- To obtain the Ahead Nero ASPI driver and the Adaptec ASPI driver, visit the following site, and follow the instructions under "Where can I get aspi32 drivers for Windows?" http://www.nu2.nu/aspi/ --- I hope that this helps fix your problem. Adaptec worked a treat. I didn't know if I needed the Nero ASPI driver so I did not bother to install it. 'Power DVD' works again now. Thanks! |
