Recently I have been asked a question about a design change to an existing
building. I do not have a strong architectural background, but I am familiar
with computer simulation and modeling techniques so I am interested in
applying that experience to solve this problem.

I would like to find a Windows based (GUI) simulation application that will
allow me to model the flow of X personnel through a building (via a pre-
described layout or blueprint). I need to be able to evaluate the effect of
different design choices in respect to redesigning the building (adding a
wall, removing a door etc…) by running various simulations, altering the input
parameters and evaluating the results.

Ideally this program should be free, freeware or shareware of some sort. It
should be user-friendly and easy to use. It should have some programmatic
controls. Ideally it should also have the ability to provide simulation
animation. I have done quite a bit of research on this and thought that
ShowFlow (http://www.showflow.com/) might be what I was looking for, but it
turned out to be a bit too limited and very hard to use.

I have dug through quite a few lists of simulation tools
(http://www.idsia.ch/~andrea/simtools.html ://www.google.com/search?
q=Architectural+personnel+flow+simulation+model++tool&num=20&hl=en&lr=lang_en&n
ewwindow=1 ) with little success. I’m looking for a recommendation for an
exact product/tool that someone has first-hand experience with.

Thanks!
