I am looking to find information on public transport over distances of
around 400 to 800km. Specifically I am looking for information to
support the construction of a French style TGV or Spanish style AVE
rail network in Britain between Scotland (Edinburgh and Glasgow,
possibly as far north as Aberdeen or Inverness) and the South of
England (London, Bristol, Euro-tunnel link).
I am looking for information to support arguments on greater economic
advantage (creation of jobs, etc), faster door-to-door transit (Vs.
same by airline requires additional waiting in terminal buildings,
getting to & from an airport on the outskirts of a city), ecological
(pollution per-passenger for a same distance journey by train, car,
air) and if you happen across any addition arguments in favour they
would also be most welcome.
Finally, who do I need to lobby at Scottish, British and European
levels to push for a High Velocity train service with in the UK?
Thanks,
Colin. |
