Which models of TabletPC allow you to use your finger on the
touchscreen (in place of the pen)?

Here's what I know so far:
Not all models of Tablet PC allow this. Many of them require you to
use a special electronic pen; others require you to use a stylus --
fingers don't work.

I've found just one TabletPC that lets you use your finger for input:

Greetings Bjfogg,
I've looked around and found some Tablet PCs on the Net that have
styluses, but could be finger operated. Here they are:

PaceBlade PaceBook Tablet PC - has a stylus, but finger can also be
used

Just one question:

How do you know that these allow finger-touch input? I see the
PaceBook does, but the others didn't make this clear.

Thanks,

BJ

If you'll carefully read the text in the websites, you'll find
mentions of finger use, though these may have been hard for you to
find:

Viewsonic tablet PC:
"The 10.4" high-resolution touch screen makes for easy navigation with
the touch of a finger or stylus." (fourth paragraph)

Tablet PC 2 - TDV Vison Debuts Tablet PC Line Under $1000:
"The nVision 1000 has an XGA TFT LCD touch screen allowing users to
input data using the wireless keyboard, the virtual on-screen
keyboard, the stylus pen or their finger." (third paragraph)

Xplore iX104 Ruggedized Tablet P - Symbol Products
"Enables interaction at the touch of a finger, even through gloves"
(right column of the second table)

As for the Tom's Hardware Guide, only the Pacebook is finger operable,
but I included the whole study in case you might be interested.

<This is just for FYI..>

Most of the Tablet PCs come with the digitizer which is sensitive to a
special electronic pen only to avoid the unnecessary input of the palm
of your hand (which touches the digitizer)while writing on it in
tablet mode.
