I am trying to set up WINS on my NT 4 machine. I have tried to delete and then reinstall the service using my NT CD. After doing this I get a very strange result. I see two IP addresses for WINS servers. One is the address of my real server. The other is 0.225.0.184, which i don't understand. Also, looking at the properties of my server, I see this false IP address. When I last checked the WINS database schema file, I did not see it there. No statistics are recorded either. This server used to have a BDC, which I got rid of. Also, I have changed IP addresses several times over the past year. I have never been able to get WINS to work, during this past year. Do I need to totally reinstall NT? I don't totally need to install WINS, more for experience than anything else. |
