I want to reset my AIM password, but the email address I provided is
no longer valid. According to AOL, there's no way to retrieve my
password now. I'm wondering if there's any other way to get it? I
have some really important contact info in there that'll take forever
to retrieve if i have to start from scratch. (friends, coworker list ~
300 people) Therefore please don't tell me just to get another
account etc. A handsome tip will be given for those who can solve
my problem.

astrokoala-ga,
I certainly can understand your frustrations. By the looks of
your other questions recently asked, it seems the issue of recovering
missing passwords has become quite a struggle for you!
As for your AIM password question, I am afraid the only method
that would "acceptable" (according to the terms of service that we
researchers must abide by) would be to provide you with link(s) to
software that is designed to recover your aim passwords on your
computer where the AIM acct was used. If AIM has been uninstalled, or
you no longer have that computer, then the software will not work.
Would links to this type of software suffice as an answer to your
question?
Thanks,
chellphill-ga

That's ok, I've searched for such software. But the computer was
recently installed due to the MSblast virus problem. Thanks anyway.

Try connecting to AIM with Trillian (from download.com). There's a
bug in AOL's servers that sometimes allows (forces) you to
authenticate with an old password (the one you chose 6 years ago).

"AIM Retriever" is a program that will supposedly retrieve the
password if it is stored on your computer. You can download AIM
Retriever here:

I cannot vouch for this, as I am not an AIM user, but it may be worth
a try.
