Hi Mick,
Thank you for your question.
To ensure you don't receive any more junk faxes, i strongly suggest
you register your number with the Fax Preference Service (FPS). I had
the same problem, and since i registered my fax number with the FPS i
stopped receiving unwanted faxes completely. Your fax number will be
added to the Fax Preference register - The register is made publicly
available to those companies and organisations who are licensed with
the FPS and who promote their services or products by using fax, in
this way they will know not to contact you. Your registration will
take 28 days from the date of confirmation to have an effect. From
then on it will be unlawful under Government legislation for anyone to
send you a direct marketing fax to you.
To register with the FPS, click here
http://www.fpsonline.org.uk/fpsr/html/Register.asp
Should you nevertheless continue to receive such faxes, the FPS offers
a complaint handling service which you can make use of:
"If your fax number has been registered on the Fax Preference Service
over 28 days and you are still receiving unsolicited sales and
marketing faxes you may wish us to take this up as a complaint on your
behalf.
Please send a copy of the fax noting the fax number it was received
on and your contact details. We will confirm receipt of the complaint.
The letter of confirmation will explain that we will contact the
company concerned and then include the complaint on the regular report
we send to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner. It is this
body that enforces the relevant Regulations; the Telecommunications
(Data Protection and Privacy) Regulations 1999.
If you wish to fax your complaints please send it to 020 7323 4322.
The postal address is:
Fax Complaints Department
FPS
DMA House
70 Margaret Street
London
W1W 8SS "

For more information you can contact the FPS on Tel: 020 7291 3330 or
email: mailto:fps@dma.org.uk
I hope this helps!
