Hi jimmycw

It seems that you will need to wait to buy tickets online for this
match, probably until the end of the month. (Season ticket sales
continue until 29 August. The first match of the season is on 31
August.)

Would you like an answer explaining all the details now, so you can
register and be ready to buy as soon as online booking begins?
The site, by the way, has an English version.

Or would you prefer to wait until I can confirm that the system for
online ticket purchase is up and running?

Just let me know if you would like an answer now.

There is also the possibility that you might be able to book a
"corporate hospitality" package through a UK specialist travel agent,
but I'm not sure whether they would arrange flights from Dublin. At
this stage, this is the only way of acquiring tickets from outside
Italy, but I haven't found anyone in Ireland offering such a service.

Hi Leli, thank you for your reply. Perhaps you could set out the
procedure for me and I will try the online route. Regards Jim

Hi Jim

First of all I should say that the match at the Olympic Stadium that
weekend is between Lazio and Chievo (Verona). It's on Sunday 5th
October.

This means buying the tickets from the Lazio club.

Their online ticket sales procedure, in English, starts here:
http://sslazio.listicket.it/index.php3?lang=EN

If that doesn't work go to the Italian page and click on the British
flag to get the English version:
http://sslazio.listicket.it

You have to register to become a "user". This involves giving them
your passport number, as you will need this for ID when picking up the
tickets once you're in Rome.

"Tickets may be picked up at the Stadium only on the day of the match,
at the ticket office, approximately 2 hours before the match, and
until the end of the first period."

Before clicking on 'sign up' you may want to read all the club's
"Regulations for the on-line ticket office on the internet" which you
will find by clicking on the dark blue 'conditions' button. There's
more information if you go to 'help' > 'FAQ' and a form to contact
them for extra help at 'help' > 'form'.

Once you've submitted the registration form, you'll get an email with
a link you must click to confirm the whole process. It will be from
"Amministratore Lis " and say "Per confermare la tua registrazione fai
click sul seguente link:" This all worked smoothly when I gave it a
trial run!

As you will see, clicking on 'ticket office' only gives you a list of
last season's matches. Two other sites I have looked at imply that the
beginning of the season is when you can start buying tickets online.
(First match of the season is on the last day of August.)

If you have any problems with any of this, please let me know and I
will do my best to help. The English version of the ticket buying
site, which is separate from the Lazio club itself, seemed to work
well, but on Lazio's site, some sections only work in Italian. For
instance, their fixture list for the 2003-4 season has no English
version yet, I'm afraid;
http://www.sslazio.it/stagione03_04/html/stagione03_04.asp

Their home page, in the English version, is here:
http://www.sslazio.it/home_e.asp

I also found an unofficial site, in English, which gives a lot of
helpful information:
http://www.footballinrome.co.uk/tickets.html

Before choosing tickets you might want to read what they say about
different sections of the stadium:
http://www.footballinrome.co.uk/stadium.html

For your information, ticket sales are actually run by
LISticket/Lottomatica, the same group which runs the Italian lottery:
http://www.lottomaticaservizi.it/

This page confirms the date and shows a seating plan of the Olympic
Stadium:
http://www.sports-road.com/soccer/events/SS_LAZIO_Soccer_tickets.htm

As I said, if you need any further help with the Lazio or LISticket
websites, including help with Italian-only pages, please just use your
'clarification' button to let me know.

I hope you have a wonderful time in Rome, including your visit to the
Stadio Olimpico!

Best wishes - Leli

Hello Leli. Unfortunately I am having no luck with the Lazio online
ticket system. It still does not appear to have the Chievo game
available. I have registered and given my passport details but I still
am not able to access the ticket office. Perhaps it is still not
available. I wonder have you any thoughts, I would appreciate any help
you might be able to suggest. Anyhow I am still looking forward to my
trip and perhaps I might be able to get tickets while in Rome. Regards
Jim

Hello again Jim

Sorry this is proving tricky. No simple answer, I'm afraid, although I
think it's likely you'll be OK, especially if you get there a day or
two before the match.

The online booking system certainly isn't working, but that's only one
aspect of a slightly disorganised ticket situation. Looking through
the news archives on the Lazio site, I found that the club waited till
the day before the first match of the season to announce prices for
the following day's tickets. At the same time they announced an
extension of two weeks for season ticket sales.

Yesterday was the second match of the season and the official
announcement of ticket prices and availability came only four days
earlier.

I guess you'll be able to get tickets from one of the lottery kiosks
when you get to Rome. Clearly they are not being snapped up over the
internet. Just find the nearest Lotto (Lottomatica) sales outlet. You
can check where this is before getting to Rome by going to:
http://sslazio.listicket.it/biglietti/index.php3?lang=IT&S=

Click on 'ricevitorie'.
In the pop-up box choose RM, then Roma, then put your hotel post-code
in the CAP box. You should get the address of the nearest Lottomatica
(or two).

I had a look through the Lazio fans google newsgroup but there was
nothing recent there about the online booking system. You could try
posting a message there to see if anyone could give you local
information:
http://groups.google.co.uk/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&group=free.it.calcio.lazio

Or at the official Lazio forum:
http://formello.sslazio.it/forum/default.asp?idforum=18

Plenty of Italians know English, and surely one of the Lazio fans will
know whether there is any chance of the online booking sytem springing
into life.

Other possibilities would be to email the Lottomatica Listicket help
at:
assistenzabiglietti@lottomaticaservizi.it

or the club:
info@sslazio.it

Your match is the next home fixture; maybe tickets won't be available
till a few days before?

You could check the news on the Lazio site from time to time:
http://www.sslazio.it/news/visualizza_news.asp?idnews=2816&titolo=1

Their news items are only in Italian, unfortunately, but you'd be
looking out for something about 'biglietti' = tickets, 'prezzi' =
prices, 'in vendita' = on sale, like this one:
http://www.sslazio.it/news/visualizza_news.asp?idnews=2867&titolo=1

Good luck, especially with getting the tickets - and enjoy Rome!

Thanks, Jim

Have a great trip to Rome. I hope you enjoy the relaxed Italian
attitude, even though it didn't help with buying the tickets in
advance! No doubt you'll get fixed up once you're there, but I still
wish the online system would work.

Many thanks for offering information on Ireland. Dublin is on my list
of places I must visit - it sounds wonderful - but I don't have any
immediate plans.
