Hello,

This is a simple, yet urgent, question relating to the Medisoft 8
Advanced Patient Account software.

I'm new to Medisoft 8 and am having this problem: When I try to enter
a new transaction, it will not save. Here's a screenshot of the error:

I get this error when I click on the "Save Transactions" button in the
lower right corner. Why is this happening? If you need to ask some
followup questions, I would be happy to provide more information.

Thanks,
Darren

Hello G8z,
Did you get the demo version, or have you purchased the full porgram?

Maybe a file-system problem? The datafile might be locked
(legitimately or not) by another application. Check the folder that
contains data -- any .lck files? If this is running in a server
environment, check server controls to see if the data files are in
use...

There is a file called "MWLock.lok" in the data folder, but no files
ending in ".lck". The .lok file has 0 KB (i.e., it's empty). We're not
using Medisoft in a server environment - just a single, stand-alone
computer.

Here's something else that I find peculiar about the Transaction
window: In the Procedure/Payment/Adjustment List, we have several
codes entered, however in the Transaction Entry screen, these codes do
not appear as a drop-menu in the "Pay/Adj Code" area of the bottom
part of the Transaction Entry screen (the Payments, Adjustments, and
Comments section), although it seems like they should.

back up your data, delete the .lok file, and try it again...

hi,

Deleting the .lok file seems to have done the trick... but how did
that appear, and is there some way to prevent that from occurring in
the future? Also, do you have any idea why the Pay/Adj codes are not
appearing?

Thanks for your help!

Database-driven softwares often use lockfiles.

Lockfile gets created when you start the program.
It's supposed to get deleted when you close the program.
But if the program crashes, deletion might not happen.

I don't know about the your codes problem, but
if the software includes a maintenance feature
like repair/compact/rebuild database, then
that might help you. Backup your data first.

Hello,

I have the full version. Here are a couple of screenshots
demonstrating the Procedure/Payment/Adjustment problem:

** I entered the codes in this screen:
http://www.tufat.com/procedure_payment_adjustment.gif

** these codes should appear in the Pay/Adj drop-down menu on this
screen:
http://www.tufat.com/transaction_entry.gif

As far as repair/compact/rebuilding the database goes, there doesn't
appear to be any command like that available in Medisoft 8 - at least,
none that were documented in the help system.

Thanks for your help.
