Question ID: 246893
Are there laws similar to the False Claims Act or other laws providing
for Qui Tam claims outside the United States?
I would only require links to their text or to references to them, but
I am seeking laws concerning the ability to sue on behalf of the State
and not laws which only handle whistleblowers.

The concept of "qui tam" in the US extends from English law of old,
though I'm not sure the concept has unfolded in the same way across
the Atlantic. The only reference I came across was in regard to legal
records available from the 1600-1800s:

http://catalogue.pro.gov.uk/Leaflets/ri2252.htm

"Informations qui tam were prosecutions initiated by an informer for
specific offences created by statute. A variety of offences were
punishable by information qui tam, but its use was most often
associated with offences against the game laws. The proceedings
required an initial affidavit of the facts but they were filed
separately from the main class of depositions and do not survive,
having been destroyed by the Public Record Office under a schedule of
1907."

Beyond this, I'm not aware of any modern laws that mirror qui tam as
practiced in the US.

Thank you for your kind request for clarification.
As written above, I am looking for foreign (non-US) laws which enable
citizens to file claims (to court) on behalf of the state in order to
fight corruption. I assume that the False Claims Act is not a singular
example of such a law, and thus I ask for links to other similar laws.
As you have stated correctly, the origin of the Latin phrase Qui Tam
comes from England, and as the English legal system had great
influence on the Common Wealth countries and other countries as well
(including Australia, New Zealand, India, Pakistan, Israel and many
more), I thought there should be many examples of such laws. For the
sake of answering this question, I think two or three links to such
examples should suffice. Thank you again and I would be waiting to
hear from you again.
