I want to know the artist and the name of the song.
No web searchers, please. I need an expert on early 80's punk/new wave
to answer this one.
This must be
british and from the early 80's (80-82). It has a female voice similar
to Lora
Logic or Linder Sterling from Ludus (I always thought this was a song
by Ludus but now I have their complete discography and it isn't
there). A sax figures prominently and the music has a cabaret rhythm.
I lost the tape were the song was recorded, but I remember the show
host saying it was a song by something like 'Lust' (?) or it could be
'Lask' (?) or something similar.
The lyrics go:
There she goes down the ???
such a sweet tattooed lady
What they want
why they're scary
think she's strange
cos' she's wearing boy's clothes
short hair they can't see
that she's trying to break free
See the scrapes down the ???
tourist eyes drive you silly
watching lives like a movie
they're so shocked
why do they all play safe
they abide the rules
they are such holy fools
Used to go down the ???
with me mates coughing ???
had some laughs and some ???
??? some things ??? never do
(spoken)
What are you bleedin' lookin' at ? Why don't you go down to ??? square
with
those cameras and take some pictures of the pigeons ??? shitting all
over
you or go to Buckingham Palace. Piss off! We've got enough ??? without
you
lot coming round here giving us a hard time. Ooh, you make me sick.
Take
your cameras away and don't you bother us with your ??? morals and
your
shopping, oh I think you're so disgusting, Go away!!! I've contempt
for the
likes of you, sir. Ah go away will ya. Stop your staring. We're just
trying
to live the best we can. Don't criticize what you don't understand and
will
never experience. You couldn't understand in a million years. ??? .
You
can't even understand your own fears.
Thanks for your help
Best regards
