Hello Rembrandt ~

"Best" is such a subject term. I'm an artist, currently working in
water colors and acrylics, with works in galleries in Atlanta, Santa
Fe, Catalina and Monterey.

I buy many of my supplies on line from various sources, because a part
my 'best' is one dealer for a particular brand of brushes I prefer,
another for for certain paints I can get through them, and even a
third for unstretched canvas, as it is the best price for that
particular canvas. While I'd love to deal with just one supplier, it
doesn't always work out that way.

In order to get an answer, it would help if you would define what you
are looking for when you refer to 'best'.

Are you looking for the best pricing? Or perhaps the widest selection
of inventory? Best shipping rates and return policy?

With some clarification from you, I suspect you'll get the exact
information you are seeking.

Regards,
Serenata

Hi Rembrandt~

Here are some of the best art supplier online, in order of my personal
preferences:

Dick Blick, despite the funny name, is a fabulous overall art
supplier. They have a very large inventory and good prices. You’ll
find their website at: http://www.dickblick.com

Art Supply Warehouse is another terrific overall source for art
supplies, with excellent prices. Find them at: http://www.aswsale.com

Pearl is another very good source, which offers a lot more than just
paint: http://www.pearlpaint.com

Utrecht Art Supplies leans heavily on paints, brushes, and drawing
items: http://www.utrechtart.com

Discount Art Supplies offers some good prices, depending upon what you
want to buy: http://www.discountart.com

Depending upon what you’re buying, one or another may be “the best
source,” but all of these are excellent places to shop, with good
supplies at good prices.

Have fun!

best, I realize is a wide angle adjective, at best....
I'm looking for good prices on windsor newton oil paints, unframed
canvas, and better quality brushes...

Don't forget to consider how much shipping is, when you decide "what a
good deal" one company has over another :)

another artist piping in - I am madly in love with Pearl Paint and
Utrecht (both mentioned above). These stores have never let me down -
and Utrecht's own brand of paint is nothing short of extraordinary -
in quality and price!
