Hello,

I know of a great program that will do this and more - however it
costs $30US for a full version. Is this acceptable as an answer?

Good Day wcxp-ga,

Undisker will do everything you are looking for, and it has a 30-day
trial version. Since you didn't specify, I am assuming you are using
Windows. If not, please let me know and I will look for the
appropriate Operating System program.

I have actually downloaded and installed the program. I am not sure if
it is a common problem or not, but for some reason I was asked to put
in a CD into my CD-RW during the install. I put in the first CD lying
around, and it the install finished fine. Now I can open ISOs on my
hard driver, and CDROMs.

Without further ado, here is the software and link to download it:

WEBSITE: Undisker - Open, Create and Extract ISO Files
URL: http://www.undisker.com/downloads/undisker.exe

Hope this does everything you are looking for! If not, please ask for
a clarification before you rate my answer. Thank you for using Google
Answers.

I am not sure how I missed it, but I didn't see the comment, and that
you already tried Undisker. Did you try version 1.1? In the mean
while I will find another program just in case.

I did test it with an ISO file from Kazaa, and it opened it without
problem. Maybe you can give me the exact error message you received?
Also, please keep in mind that files on Kazaa are often incomplete.
There could be a problem with the file. Just to make sure, I am
setting up an ISO file online that I know works, and will give you the
address so you can download and try it. We will then know if it was
the file, or the program that is the problem. I will post the URL in a
few minutes (working on it right now).

Hi wcxp-ga,

I have put up an ISO file online, one that I know works. Try
downloading it, and opening it with undisker. I think you will find
that it works. It really sounds like your ISO file is corrupted.

The file is at http://members.shaw.ca/google/index.html If you are
using Internet Explorer, right click on "Click Here" and use the "Save
Target As" or in Netscape use "Save Target File As". The file is just
over 6MB, the smallest I could create with the CDs I have here. Please
let me know if this is a problem.

If the above still results in problems with opening, please give me
your Operating System details (XP, Win98,Win98SE, etc), and the exact
error you are receiving. This will allow me to find other people with
the problem, and find out how they solved it.

It gave me me the file format is not supported error, this is using
WinXP- Service Pack 1, I remember I downloaded an iso program that
worked but I deleted it from my hard drive and I forgot what it was
called. Keep looking the previous programs that u mentioned did not
work, please find me the program that works. I'll be glad to add an
additional ten dollar tip.

Here is another one:

I tried this one too, does on my system what you need it to do. Hope
this one works better for you. :)

I've tried MagicIso program before it doesn't work, it doesn't
recognize the file format. I'm going to upload the file for you using
my webserver later on so you can test it, please find me an iso
program that works and I'll gladly tip you an additional twenty
dollars.

hope u have cable internet

Clarification of Answer by slawek-ga on 28 Aug 2003 07:48 PDT
Hi wcxp,

If you have downloaded the file I setup for you, and it didn't work,
there probably is no need for uploading your file. The reason I say
that is because the file works fine on my side. This appears to be a
problem isolated to your computer. :( The 6MB file I posted online
for you opens without problems on my side, both with Undisker, and
MagicISO. I am using WindowsXP as well.

Since you mentioned that you had a different program running without
problem, this can mean one of two things:

- The program you were running is actually one of the programs I
provided you, but your settings changed and something prevents the
software from working now.

- You did indeed use a different program, which for some reason
overlooked the incompatibilities, and functions fine.

While I will be happy to try your ISO file, it sounds like it will
work for me with both pieces of provided software, as did my test
file.

Please let me know how I should proceed? If you are looking at opening
just this one file, maybe I can open it for you, and send it in a
different format? Did you want to try the test file again, or just
send me yours anyway and see if I can open it? Either way, I'm here
for you till the end. :)

Thanks for your patience.

I just signed up for a web service so that I can upload the file, but
the user information and logins have not been dessiminated, I am still
waiting for it but it should come within today, I have cable internet
so for sure I will upload it and you can test it for me to find the
program that works and maybe send it in in a different format but the
main thing is the program. I will tip you an additional $20 for your
help.

Hi wcxp,

I will be checking in all day long for the link to the file. I do have
cable Internet, so I will be able to download the file quickly. I will
post the results right after the download and we can decide what to
do. Again, thanks for your patience.

Hi sorry I got the webhost information but I am not able to upload the
file because it takes way too long about seven hours. Please download
Roxio 6 from Kazaa or Bearshare and test it and post the program that
is use for it. That is the only other alternative. Thnx.

Clarification of Answer by slawek-ga on 04 Sep 2003 16:09 PDT
I am not sure what I should post? Are you looking for Roxio 6? Is
that the software you have in ISO format right now? Please clarify.

Also, please keep in mind that in accordance with our research policy
I will only be able to provide you with a link to shareware version,
if available, and not the full edition.

Looking forward to your response.

Hi wcxp-ga,

I have downloaded a copy of Roxio in ISO format, and undisker opened
it fine on my side. Since it was the full version, I cannot distribute
the program to you and have since deleted it from my system.

It really sounds like your machine has either some software installed
that conflicts with the recommended software, or an operating system
incompatibility (based on a setting somewhere, or something similar...
Since we both are running XP, we know that XP is capable of running
this software, but for some reason your system is having trouble with
it).

Do you have access to another computer? Can you burn a copy of the
ISO, and open it on another PC using undisker? Otherwise, I am not
sure what I can do for you other then to convert into a different
format a file provided by you. :(

I am open to any other suggestions you may have on how I can be of
assistance to you. Please advise.

I think the file is corrupted..............................................................................
Thnx so much though it's been nice speaking with you.

Clarification of Answer by slawek-ga on 05 Sep 2003 13:38 PDT
That was my initial thought, but you said that you were unable to open
an ISO file that I created and provided... This made me believe that
the problem lies elsewhere. In any case, good luck, and please ask for
any additional help you might require.

I tried all three programs but with no luck, it gives me a file
unsupported error. Please download a .iso file from Kazaa to test it,
then give me the name of the program that is use. Thnx in advance.

Hi again,

If you still haven't found a solution to this problem, my original
offer still stands - to answer your question there is a trial version
for the program I had in mind. If you are interested you can post
another question for me ( put "for answerguru-ga" in the subject) and
I would be glad to help :)
