This is the a very similar question to the one that I was asking
previously: That was about "R&D expenditure in the semiconductor
industry each year for the past few years". I didnt get replies on
that one, but perhaps it may be easier in a different technological
area? I'm also interested in the same question applied to multiplex
communications.   By this, I am referring to internet connections
(broadband, DSL, etc..).

Thus the question is:
What is the R&D expenditure in the multiplex communications industry
each year for the past few years, ideally for the past decade or more.

should have said 'optical fiber communications systems'
