I am looking for a good resource for a bean bag chair pattern for my 2 infant sons. I am a newbie to sewing but would like to make these myself. I need a pattern preferably one that offers the chair with a handle. I want to know what materials I need, how much I need and what a good filling is. |

I could not find a pattern with a handle, but here are two nice pages that give step-by-step instructions for making your own beanbag chair: http://www.sewing.org/enthusiast/html/et_beanbag.html http://www.hutchal.clara.net/curtains/beanbag.htm I recommend finely shredded foam rather than polystyrene pellets for the filling. Polystyrene pellets become compacted quickly, causing the chair to become flat and less comfortable. Foam is puffier and softer to begin with, and lasts longer. Here's a good source for shredded foam: http://www.serenityhealth.com/bean_filler.html |

Hi salma, Just to be on the safe side, please remember that beanbags are not considered a safe place for infants to sleep. "Never put an infant to sleep on a waterbed, pillow, quilt, beanbag chair or sofa. All of these surfaces pose a suffocation or entrapment risk." http://www.intelihealth.com/IH/ihtIH/WSIHW000/29010/29737/331779.html?d=dmtChildGuide And now I have to say, WOW! You're taking on learning to sew while you have TWO infant sons to look after (twins I assume?) I am impressed! :-) -K~ |
