Hi there,

Based on what someone wrote in their weblog:

" It just really needed to tell me this important bulletin from the
Important Enough To Bug People’s Phones Desk of MSNBC. I flip open the
phone to see this vital story, and there it is:

From: 676800000000
Breaking News:
Landmark decision
8:29pm 8/5/03"
http://www.cynicor.com/blog/

... it would appear that the service you wish to turn off is supplied
by MSNBC. This is the page where you can turn the alerts off (it
requires signing in if you aren't already):
http://net.msnbc.com/tools/alert/sub.aspx

Just select "no" alongside each alert and click on submit.

If for any reason that doesn't work, let me know in a clarification
and I'll get back to you.

Best wishes,

Answer got me pointed in the right direction and that makes the answer
worth the cost. It is not 5 stars, though, because there was still a
lot of digging to find where it was turned on. But that is what I
would expect for only $5.
