Here goes nothing...my first venture into the world that is Google
Answers.

As stated in the subject, I am interested in up-to-date (published
within the last year), comprehensive research relating to trends in
the bath and bedding market (blankets, sheets, comforters, pillows,
etc). My goal is to understand the future of textile (bath and bed
related) manufacturing. Interesting research would include, but not
be limited to:

   * Trends in the Overall Industry
   * Domestic(US) vs International sourcing initiatives
   *  Distribution channel trends

Please do not refer me to general textile/apparel industry sites
unless it is a specific link to the information I am interested in.

I will accept either "free" or "paid" research, though I would like to
know what I am paying for. I wish I could give more detail with
respect to "how much will you pay", but I cannot specify without
getting a feel for the material offered.

I am concurrently running my own search and my initial feeling is that
the information is out there, yet I am drowning in other types of
textile research.

I do not have a specific number of reference points in mind, though my
thought is to value quality over quantity.

I hope to receive an answer sometime on Thursday the 28th. Like I
said earlier, this is my first venture to Google Answers and haven't a
clue as to whether I priced this question appropriately. I do believe
a thorough response deserves a tip.

I have found one site from the UK that seems to provide information,
though it seems to be a bit pricy. I guess that's why I asked the
question...for reference points.

Also, it appears that KSA Technopak performed a study on bed and bath
market. Is this available?

There seem to be a number of reports of the type you described, but
they all have purchase prices in the neighborhood of a thousand
dollars or more -- which is not unusual for professional market
studies. Some of the reports can be purchased section by section, so
you can get only the chapters of most interest for a somewhat smaller
fee.

Do you want a few of these reports listed as an answer to your
question? If not, what sort of information would best suit your
needs?

Pafalafa -

I believe that such reports would suffice, as long as you are fairly
certain that other less expensive material is unavailable. I want to
be as exhaustive as possible within reason (that being a limited
timeframe).

Please keep in mind that while my question appears to be quite
specific (Bath and Bed textiles), I am willing to compensate
accordingly.

Thanks for your help.

Pafalafa et al:

It has come to my attention while running this search that one may
better find resources using "home textiles" or "household textiles".

FYI - I have already found some interesting research at
hometextilestoday.com, marketresearch.com, and
textilesintelligence.com, but am looking for more.

Hello again,

I haven't forgotten our question, but I've gotten sidetracked with
other things (life, wouldn't you know!).

Hopefully, I can get back to this soon. In the mean time, though,
here's the best single report I've come across so far, from the looks
of it -- you can see a detailed table of contents to get an idea of
what the full report is like:

Pal -

Your dedication is appreciated.

At first glance, the report looks to be of interest (better than most
things I have been coming across). Ideally I would like to gain
insight into more recent trends, but as I am discovering in my own
research, such information is rarely available.

I will not need the information until Tuesday, Sept 1st, so do not
feel any undue deadline pressure (unless you thrive under such
circumstances).

I hope you have a clear idea what I am looking for...

Again, thanks for your time.

I will still tip, but I upped the question to $40 for your continued help.

I may have to close this question if I do not receive your response by
Monday, September 8. It's just that this information is time
sensitive.

Thanks.

Hello again,

Thanks for the reminder note. Truth is, I have been hesitant to
tackle this question as you are asking for very comprehensive
information (trends, sourcing initiatives, distribution channels) for
a topic on which there is only limited information.

I've identified about half a dozen reports, mostly from Europe, that
cover the household textiles market in considerable detail. A few of
the reports are available at no charge, while the rest are commercial
market reports that cost hundreds of dollars.

Would this information -- in addition to that which has already been
posted -- suffice as an answer? If so, let me know, and I can provide
a response in fairly short order.

Thanks.

It appears that you have put forth enough effort at this point. My
main reason for posting the question was not only to find valuable
resources (which the Mintel report most definately is), but also to
ensure that I have run an exhaustive search. The latter is just as
important.

How does this sound?

Post the links that you feel may be relevant (paid, free, US or UK).
No need too spend to much time qualifying each report. Maybe post
them in order of relevance. I will tip $10 and give a 5 star rating.
Ok?

Like I said above, I just want to know what is out there and that I am
analyzing the most pertinent information.
