Hi,

I’ve got more info & I’m reposting this to see if I can get an answer
this time around (previous question #210456).

(snip)
this song is by an r&b male group. it's a slow song, and was
released sometime within the last 5 years or so, i think. although i
could be wrong, i don’t think it was hugely popular (like top 40), as
i only heard it on the radio a few times here & there; i never heard
it in regular rotation. i would like artist & song title; album title
would be helpful, too, if possible.
(snip)

a wonderful GA user provided the following add’l info AND the full
lyrix!
-song was in the mid-90s
-the song samples the hook (not the lyrics) from 'What You Won't Do
for Love' by Bobby Caldwell
-someone else was asking about this song on the forum of a site
called Anthems.com last month -no one's answered yet-

Here's a link to the post:
http://www.anthems.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=6006&sid=5

and here’s a summary of what the person on anthems remembers:
-slow song; last heard in early 1995,
-specifically heard a few times on WJLB Friday night live,
broadcasting from Legends nightclub in Detroit, a club playing house &
techno music

Following are the full lyrix. Will someone tell me the artist & song
title???

[chorus]:

I want you to hold me, control me
Dim all the lights, baby spend the night
I want you to hold me, control me
Dim all the lights, baby spend the night

I know what you're thinking, I'm feeling the same way too
I wanna be next to you until the early morning
Baby spend the night, I'll make you feel so right
And I promise you that girl, I'll keep it coming

When the sun starts to fall and the night begins to mellow out
Baby I'll be here for the taking
Lady I'll be right here, so have no fear

[chorus]

You know what I need girl
So give it to me now
Bring my love on down
Fulfill my fantasies
Baby take me higher, set my soul on fire
'Cause you know the answer, oh yeah

When the sun starts to fall, and the night begins to mellow out
Baby I'll be here for the taking
Lady I'll be right here, so have no fear

[chorus]

When the sun starts to fall and the night begins to mellow out
Baby I'll be here for the taking
Lady I'll be right here, so have no fear

[chorus]

Hey vinsvixen2,

I just wanted to correct something I told you on your original posting
of this question. I misspoke when I used the word 'sample' to describe
how the hook from 'What You Won't Do For Love' is used in this
song...the song doesn't use any of Bobby Caldwell's original
*recording*, which would be sampling. Instead, they play the hook
themselves, whoever the musicians are, incorporating it into the song
as its bridge. So, in other words, they just borrow a piece of the
melody of 'What You Won't Do For Love', not a piece of the original
recording of that song. I hope I'm making sense -- I'm sure there's a
technical term for this practice, but I don't know what it is. And I
have no idea if it will ultimately make any difference to helping you
get your answers, but just wanted to clarify.
