Is there anywhere in the Uk exist surgeon who operate cncer on large intestine, where is very low without colostomy ,(I'm not sure if the colostomy is the right word, but in another words not to have "bag" outside of stomak). I would assume that some sort of microsurgery or even plastic surgery might be involved. Is it something like that possible? |

It depends on how low, how large, and how deep is the tumor. Many people who would have gotten a colostomy many years ago, can avoid them now because of newer techniques, especially those using special stapling devices. But if the tumor is so low that it can be easily felt from below with the finger, it's not usually possible to remove it safely and still re-attach the ends. If it's small and not deep, sometimes it can be removed from below only, leaving no incision. It may or may not require radiation treatments as part of the treatment. Any surgeon who identifies him/herself as a colorectal surgeon would be familiar with the techniques and options. Any of the major hospitals, and those associated with medical schools would have them |
