This is from an article published in 2001:

"The average cost for an office visit at an area physician is $54.96. 
The national average is $60.27."

I've been trying to figure out what Medicare will cover for visits to
the doctos - but can't seem to track down the site/cite.  It looks
like the program B will handle non-routine checkups and certain
preventive medicine procedures (rectal exams, pap smears) with a $100
deductible.  Not that that's particularly helpful to you.
